Summer is always an exciting and busy season. Not long after the final bell rings in May, students young and old quickly switch from school mode to summer mode. This summer, Thomas Jefferson will be initiating a new phase as well: construction begins on our new Arts and Student Life Complex. Because of the excitement surrounding a work-site, our Summer Discovery Academy has been significantly scaled down this year. We remain committed to offering students top-notch programs throughout the year, and will be running a more extensive summer program once the building is complete and has been settled into for a full academic year (Summer 2012).
During this summer, we’ll be offering several of our “core” programs—the workshops and classes that have become trademarks of Thomas Jefferson. Included are our summer theater camp for kids, our standardized test preparation courses, and band camp. We hope you’ll join us for one or more of these programs. While our program is shorter this summer, it just means that our teachers have that much more energy reserved to make them truly memorable!
Course Schedule:
All Classes run Monday through Thursday from Aug. 2 to 13, 2010, unless noted below.
Jumpstart Pre-K and Kindergarten: 9 a.m. to noon
Showtime for Kids: 9 to 11 a.m.
Band Camp-Beginner: Mon-Fri, Aug. 9-13 only; 10 to 11 a.m.
Band Camp-Advanced: Mon-Fri, Aug. 9-13 only; 11 a.m. to noon
Duke TIP Preparation: 9 a.m. to noon
PSAT/SAT/ACT Test Prep (Verbal): 9 - 10:30 a.m.
PSAT/SAT/ACT Test Prep (Math): 10:30 a.m. to noon
Study Skills Workshop: 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Film-Making Studio: 1 to 3 p.m.
