Navigating the College Planning Process Together

Planning for college is an exciting endeavor that involves making significant life decisions. Beginning in 9th grade, Thomas Jefferson provides individualized attention to ensure students discover—and get admitted to—their best-fit college, and to help both students and parents meet goals and navigate college affordability issues.

From giving advice on choosing schools to providing one-on-one help with college applications and essays, TJ is deeply involved with families during every step of the college planning process. We keep you informed of important dates, such as registration deadlines for PSAT, SAT and ACT exams. We help your child apply for scholarships and summer programs, and we host informative events, such as college application workshops and grade-level College Nights for freshmen and sophomores and their families. We put students face-to-face with college representatives—at TJ and during college trips over the summer break.

Parents and students have access to the TJ Naviance Portal for college planning support and resources, as well as a grade-by-grade overview of college planning steps. We invite you to contact the Head of School at any stage of the college planning process.

Quote

“TJ opened the door for me to attend the university that is perfect for me, where I can truly find and pursue my passions. TJ obviously prepared me for college in a studying/time-management sense, but without TJ, I never would have found my perfect college, and even if I did, I surely wouldn't have been prepared to face all of its challenges and academic rigors.”
